Google AdWords Industry Benchmarks

It’s not the best strategy to rely on benchmarks for key performance indicators (KPIs) when working with Google AdWords – there is too much variation between businesses, even in the same industry, to make that feasible. Retailers and service businesses have different niches, different price points, different web presences, different offers… you get the idea. All of these can have a significant impact on how your marketing performs.
We always maintain that the best campaigns have continually improving KPIs, getting better as the campaign is optimized as new data is collected.
That said, it is helpful to have a general idea of the standards for your industry – at the very least, it can give you an idea if you’re significantly off the mark and perhaps need to think about broader changes outside of just a campaign.
